Welcome to St. Quiricus & St. Julietta (Tickenham Church)

Set in the North Somerset village of Tickenham, St Quiricus & St Julietta has been serving the local community for nearly 1,000 years. Tickenham Church is a benefice with Christ Church, Nailsea and each month we offer a pattern of services and you are most welcome at any or all of them – full information can be found on our What’s On page.

Everyone is welcome at St Quiricus & St Julietta. During the summers months, we keep our doors open at the weekends for visitors.

We also have a programme of regular activities and frequent special events open to both regular worshippers and the wider community here in Tickenham.

Safeguarding

The parish of Tickenham is committed to the safeguarding of children, young people and adults. We follow the House of Bishops guidance and policies and have our own Parish Safeguarding Officer(s), PSOs. The Diocese of Bath & Wells’ safeguarding pages contain vital links and information including contacts for the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor (DSA) who advise our PSOs. If you are concerned that a child or adult has been harmed or may be at risk of harm please contact the DSA. If you have immediate concerns about the safety of someone, please contact the police and your local authority Children or Adults Services.

A MESSAGE FROM OUR RECTOR

As I write this, we are in the forty-fourth rainy day of 2026. Even if every place hasn’t had rain every day, somewhere in the UK has been wet since the beginning of the new year. We have been relatively lucky in Nailsea – I don’t think any houses or businesses have been flooded and, if the puddle outside the Rectory is annoying, it isn’t impassable.. We do of course remember those elsewhere in Somerset and further afield who are living with the effects of much worse weather.

Any long season of rain calls to mind the timeless story of Noah and the Ark. In that ancient tale, the rain may only have fallen for forty days but it was unendingly constant day and night. The whole world was flooded and most living things destroyed. But Noah having been forewarned by God to build an ark kept his family safe. As you will know after a long time the ground dried out and Noah and his family were given a new start sent out of the ark to bless the land.

Hopefully, even before you read this article the rain will have stopped and warm March winds start to bring sunnier weather. And during March our minds will turn not only to the story of Noah but to another story of renewal. As Easter approaches, the themes of resurrection and new beginnings emerge. J’ust as the floodwaters eventually receded to reveal dry land, the empty tomb reminds us that after hardship comes hope. and ofter darkness comes light. Rain nourishes the earth, and faith nourishes the spiritboth preparing us for the flourishing that is yet to come.

So, as we navigate the, hopefully not too, soggy lanes and puddled parks of our town and countryside, let us remember the cleansing power of rain, Noah’s steadfastness and the promise that Easter brings. Storms may test us, but they also remind us that growth, renewal, and joy follow-even if they arrive a little damp.
